Default Wagon RTawd question

Ok, my buddy wanted me to get on here and see if you guys could help me out on this. Wagon realtime awd is supposed to be 4wd all the time correct? We had got it stuck on some pretty soft turf yesterday in the rain, and it would not pull itself out. Front tires were spinning fine, but seemed that the rears were not engaging at all. Everything is mechanically sound so I have no idea why it wasnt pulling all 4 wheels. Can anyone help me out here, would greatly appreciate it.

check to make sure it is in 4wd mode. There is a selector on the top/rear of the transmission. Should have instructions either under the hood or behind the drivers sunvisor on how to engage/disengage 4wd.

If it's in 4wd and the rear doesn't spin when the front spins, could be the viscous coupler on the drive shaft.

the RT4wd wagons are NOT all-time 4wd. They only engage when the front is slipping.

So, it should've engaged while you were stuck, but it's not on all the time.
