CRX has a mystery clicking noise in the rear cargo area
It's been awhile since I've been the H-T boards, but it's nice to be back! I just picked up a 1990 CRX and am loving it so far. Of course, I have a small issue right off the bat.
In the rear cargo area, while driving, I can hear a clicking/tapping noise. At first, I thought it was the rear cargo cover not properly seated..negative. I thought it might be the spare tire/tools...negative. I shook the car from side to side, up and down in an attempt to replicate the sound...nothing. The last thing which I haven't checked yet but am doubtful is the issue is the rear suspension bushings. I have owned a couple of hondas and can tell a bushing/suspension creak from something else.
Has anyone a clue as to what it might be? I am stumped. The best explanation I have to describe the sound is as if there is a socket stuck within plastic panels bouncing back and forth. I try to blip the throttle to see if the noise coincides with suspension compression/expansion but it doesn't which leads me to believe that it is not suspension related.
Any input would be greatly appreciated!

i had an 84 accord that made the SAME noise. something was up with the rear strut ( im not EXACTLY sure, i wasnt intrested in knowing about things at the time haha) but i replaced the strut and fixxed.
i hope this may be of help to you. can you pinpoint a genral location as to where the sound is coming from?

could be a screw or something floating around behind the plastics...only way to know for sure is start disassembly and pulling things out. then drive it again
hatches are known to have a lot of play in the latch. sometimes it makes squeeking noises, when its really bad its just tapping noises as it jumps up and down.
put tape around the u hook. see if that helps.

OMG I have the same thing going on I think! My car has like a wierd squeaky sound in the hatch when I drive Its soo annoying!
IDK what it is.. sounds like a squirrel is living back there haha. bumps usually set it off but not always. Usually just does it when I drive and the car moves a bit. I doubt its the struts but I try my best just to ignore it lol. But im getting new struts soon we'll see what happens I guess.
