Amplifier Rack...
Hi would this make a good amp rack in the back of my 90 crx or 91 civic hatchback ?
Its 29.5" long and 8" high which is perfect and I can mount my amps on both sides.
Im thinking of welding the feet to the floor of the hatch.
is it safe to mount the amps on metal ?
Whatta you think ?

i dont think it would hurt the amps as long as none of the connections touch the amp and the amps would obviously need to be screwed or mounted to the rack. me personally, i would cover it in something to make it look less generic. like partical board or something along those lines covered in some kind of material. with some creativity this can actually come out pretty well

i think you can custom make a better one out of a different material
i dont think metal would be too apropiate since amps do get kinda hot sometimes...and if theres a loose cable or line it could get so hot and the cable or something catch fire

IMO you do not want to display the amps cuz you dont want broken windows for them. However, if you do end up going with a rack, like other people are telling you, use different material because amps do get hot and a freak accident might happen a power wire may come loose and fry other things. Electrical fires are not easy to put out. Plus you can come up with a better design, probably for less too.
i just brought that up because installing an amp rack and bolting it or welding it to the frame would cause more "damage" than four or eight tiny screw holes, which can be filled with some jb weld
my 2 amps are on teh back seat just like dcrb. i like it that way cause if thieves ever get into my trunk, they cant get the amps cause my sub is in the way and completely bolted not screwed, bolted down to the floor and you cannot push my back seats forward
I wasn't ******* the way you did it at all, I just personally wouldn't do it that way. I plan to build an actual amp rack that fits like a wall behind the seats. That or do a false floor with the amp built in.
custom shops use MDF (medium density fiberboard) for all their boxes and accessories, build/shape it and then cover it in fabric or whatever. but that stuff is pretty heavy. my amp is mounted on the back seat like DCRB's.
