Rames_CD5 build.. will be a long adventure
Hello Honda-tech
My name is Colin, most call me Rames.
This build started out of necessity I guess. It all started in Mar 08. I Wanted another Honda. Picked up an 04 Accord LX, auto. Was happy with it. My brother is a Honda head from cali. He helped me lower it and debadge it. We talked about building a motor for it. A friend had an F23A7 laying around from his Odyssey swap. It had no compression in cyl 3. But a clean looking motor no less. Stripped it down and had dreams of rebuilding it some day with dc5r pistons and no balance shafts and blah blah. Well Drove the car for a year like this.

Then, one morning on my way to work. SMASH.
I rear ended a Camry at a light. My fault but there was no damage to the Camry. The front of my car was smashed. Well I thought it was a total loss.
My brother went and looked at it. He said “****, that’s rebuildable.” It had pushed radiator into the exhaust manifold and it looked fvck’d. but his magic hands went to work.

So I took a little loan out and spend 1100 bucks in one day. For the cd5 build
Dc5r pistons
K20 rings
Complete gasket set
S2000 dampener
Bearings
Plugs and pins for the balance shaft delete
New 97 bumper
New hood

Black housing lights and amber corners
EG radiator
Caps and plugs for the power steering delete
Cheap ebay header and full exhaust. hey,, was running out of funds
Idk some of this was bought during the build but ..
We took it to my brothers garage. Stripped and cleaned the bay. Sanded the bay

And shot it all black.

My brother built a lot of the motor with out me while I was at work.
The motor was cleaned and machined
The head was cleaned and glass blasted. All stock parts went back in. valves were cleaned and re seated.
The intake manifold was disassembled and he reworked the plenum. The EGR port was welded shut and reground. Removed balance shafts and plugged the girdle. Modified the stock oil pump for a bit more pressure. The block was assembled with new bearings and dc5r pistons atop F23 rods. Both were balance matched to each other. The S2k dampener was installed. The belt was misaligned so a new alt bracket was whipped up to move the alt down and back inline with the dampener.

To clean up the bay it was mildly wire tucked.
I think it came out clean. I like what he did. He builds motors like he’s on crack and forgets to take pictures. There are limited pics. But you get the idea.
next installment will be body work.. shaving the moldings and replacing the rusty rear fenders.. stay tuned..
will
