Default 87 crx fenders

I've tried the vendors listed on this site, but conversations with them leave me uneasy that they are providing the right part. Has anyone purchased aftermarket fenders and had them arrive correct and unbroken? If so, from who? I do have fenders now, but both have cracks starting. I can fix this, but my guess is that they have become brittle with age and new cracks will form elsewhere quickly and easily.. thoughts? Thanks, Mike.

The only source for CRX plastic fenders is one factory in Taiwan. There are several vendors who sell them, check eBay, the best prices seem to come up there.

The Taiwanese fenders are OK, and fit OK. I'd give them a 9/10.

When you get your new fenders, slather the backside with a liberal application of fiberglass to give them some extra strength.

I have an 87 that needs a left fender & the dark plastic bottom trim. I've seen some metal ones in web sitespriced reasonably. I also need the nose piece/grille
to finish the repair.

Is it the same advice, go to eBay ?

Are these plastic fenders etc coated with a primer so they will accept paint
that will stay on ? Or are they just raw plastic ?

What paint would best be used ?

Nobody makes metal fenders for the 1st Gen CRX. It's an oversight by the vendor. I really wish someone did make metal ones; that would really eliminate issues with those panels.

I received a call from the guys at Civic Duty telling me that they had exhausted their NOS and all of the parts cars. They did, however, inform me they were "trying" to get some steel fenders produced. I'm not sure it will ever happen, but it is a small glimmer of hope for the 1st gen.

OK, then what about the plastic replacement fenders and the best price & availability of them. Any thoughts ?

I'm going to have to put a fender on this thing before long just to keep the local cops off my back. Even though the fender is more cosmetic than functional
some rookie will likely get on my case about it.

It would be even nicer if someone offered them in carbon fiber that way they could still be light and durable. But the 1g has little market appeal unfortunately

Not to mention I'm tired of searching threw junkyards for a nose piece that isn't broken.
