Icon2 What should I do?

I'm thinking about upgrading my B18C1. I already have a RS-R ExMeg exhaust, a cold air intake, Skunk2 intake manifold, stage 3 clutch, and spoon chip. I don't mind buying pricey things, but things like a cold air intake and headers. They all do the same thing no matter the price, as long as the header as a 2.5" collector. I'm thinking about buying a Megan header with either a donut to with the stock CAT or a test pipe (replace the CAT). What do you all think about that? And what kind of internal parts do you all think would be good for my engine? I'm thinking Skunk2 stuff. I want to stay all motor.

I'd definatley go with the JDM 4-1. I also had a megan header and it was a nice difference in top end. It got a hell of alot more excited. Especially if you have the skunk2 intake manifold.

The only thing with the megan header is the welds aren't that great. Mine broke on the part it connected to the chassis near the collector. I wouldn't recommend bolting it there if you get it.

That's definitely false.

GagnarTheUnruly, plz explain man. my cousin told me there really isn't that big of a difference. just as long as i get a header with a 2.5" collector.

i'm in the market for one and i want the best for my car. I'm looking do something that i can use both on the street and track, until i buy a TL later next yr. my whole suspension is ungraded and i would love to take it back onto the track. my engine is OBD 1, thank God, so i can use a test pipe.

Dyno results (in the allmotor section) have demonstrated many times that headers aren't interchangeable. If you think about it, a bit of engineering is required to make sure the exhaust pulses stay organized as they exit the engine. Cheapo headers may not help much even though they provide larger than stock tube diameters.

Generally, you get what you pay for. Custom headers and high end headers (Bisimoto, e.g.) obviously outperform cheapo ones, but there are a number of knock-off headers (Hytech replicas, Kiddracing headers) that are known to perform well at a fraction of the cost of designer headers. Following up those on the performance side of things are DC Sports, Megan and the like, and those are trailed by no-name Ebay types in the header heirarchy.

Some people swear by their Ebay headers, but in the short time I've been here I've seen tuned, well built engines gain double digits in power due to a swap from one aftermarket header to another. My hunch is that a well chosen $500 header will add the same power to a stock engine as a $500 full Ebay exhaust system.
