You should be able to get a good idea using a gear calculator.

Yup. It isn't as large of a difference as most people seem to assume it is.

Whatever floats your boat, although I'm not sure why you would prefer that setup.

Aren't all B Series 1st gear ratios identical, pre-differential?

I have a ls/gs integra too. On my car, 80mph is at 3.5k on the dot.

Ya I think the preferred setup is having a gsr trans for the LSD and then an LS 4th and 5th so you can get longer gears and ride out to a higher speed before you shift. Unfortunately as far as I know there is no one that makes an LSD for the ls/gs transmission. If there is, someone please let me know so I don't buy a gsr trans and change out my LS 4th/5th gear to that trans for no reason lol.

btw, the stock FD on the Mfactory calculator is NOT the std 4.4. The mis-information floating in this thread is sad. GSR 80MPH = 4k

It's been over a year since i've driven a car with OEM GSR gear ratios. I knew those numbers looked a little high.

Actually, the MFactory calculator is stating that a GSR, with 4.4FD, and 195/55/15 tires is going 83 mph, at 4000 RPM's.

Que? GSR stock FD is 4.40, GSR FD on the MFactory calculator is 4.40. 92-00 LS is 4.266, MFactory calculator is 4.266...

That's wrong, by about 1k rpm for both tranny's

LS/B16/GSR 1st gears are the same, someone lied to you if they told you it would benefit you. Why didn't you swap in the GSR 2nd gears and dual syncros also?

You do know that USDM GSR's don't come with LSD right. Only some JDM GSR have LSD as it was optional.

I've had a LS and B16 in my teg with 195/60-14 tires and at 80mph the LS was at 3500 and the B16 was at 4600, so I know the GSR has to be less than 4600.

Your reasoning is still wrong, longer gear ratio means it will take longer to reach boost. It doesn't matter if the car is NA or FI, you always want to get into the power band sooner in a drag car.
What would you rather have, a turbo that takes 1 second to reach peak boost, or one that takes 3 seconds to reach peak boost, same applies with transmissions.

LOL! Longer "taller gears", or "lower gear ratios" can be beneficial when traction is an issue, but to generically state that an "LS tranny is better for boost," is absurd.

"Longer Gear Ratio", yeah, Sisterfister through me off when he said "Longer gears, longer boost" meant to say higher gear ratio.

Lower gear ratio should not be an issue. Remember, LS and B16 have the same 1st gears, so traction should not be used as an argument for one that says LS tranny is better for boost. If you don't have the right suspension, tire combo, traction will be an issue no matter what tranny you're using. And if you don't have traction by at least 2nd gear, then you don't know how to drive.
A motor puts down as much power as you allow it to, as the driver, you are in complete control. I would much rather feather the clutch and launch with a bit less throttle and have traction immediately, than launch at 7k rpm and burnout the entire 1st gear.

Ok so i don't understand! Why does my 92 LS Transmission on a 94 B18B1 motor in a 90 integra obd0 with stock ecu on factory 195/60r14 say 80MPH at 4k?!?!?!?

Also this is my 4th trans and they all do the same as this one.

Aren't those tires significantly smaller than the stock tires? Aren't stock tires 185/55/15?

I cruise at 4k in my GSR at 80 mph. No LSD unless its some rare JDM GSR. What differences are there between LS and GSR tranny other than gear ratio? My synchros are gone, I can't afford a GSR tranny
