Default Fair price on GSR engine???

What would be a fair price for a well maintained GSR engine with 225k? My engine is leaking a lot of oil and want to replace it.
I'm looking to buy and rebuild to OEM Spec.

He's asking for $800

It is from a 95 GSR B18C1

Daily driver and a few autocross.
Not sure about the leak down and compression.

quick comment on buy and rebuild to oem

you'll spend more than a $1500 jdm gsr and probably more than a 2300 jdm itr

if that engine is complete it's a not a bad deal but i think you would be money ahead going with a jdm swap

Cant you just do a hone and new overbore OEM pistons for your motor? Is it the valves leaking or blowby?

GSR engines alone are 1800 retail...used...who knows condition wise

Do an H2B swap instead F20B FTW!

mmmm...you can do a little better, something like

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/JDM-I...ht_2688wt_1165

as far as the rebuild goes many times you can just do a hone and reuse your old pistons with new rings; however, the top end often needs guides, new exhaust valves, a good deal of gaskets and seals, decking the head and block + the labor and time. if the OP spent 800 on this one and did a simple rebuild it would run about the same as the JDM motor linked above BUT the jdm engine is lower mile everywhere. bearings, casting, all of it.

You are right. I had to replaced exhaust valves and guides when I bought my b18c1 off the street. It was almost $200 that I didn't plan on with the "oem' rebuilt. I would of went with a jdm swap but it isn't legal here in CA and usdm b18c5 is rare and expensive. $1650 isn't bad for a gsr but they added shipping cost already. $800, it's worth it if you plan on building it to a type r spec and get some power or if you just want a replacement then get a low mileage gsr.

it varies, i normally do gsr or itr swaps into a 94-01 integra for $450 plus parts if you run it jdm or $600 if you want the usdm obd2a conversion. most shops are around $700-1200, it really varies.

Hmm.. I like your style. How much Should getiing all of my engine mounts fixed cost me? I have alot of repairs that need to be done , and not as much disposable money for the project. I might not swop depending on how much It costs. and where I can get the GSR motor for. I have a 99 LS

Any realistic estimates of some front end frame work would be awesome as well.

you might be money ahead selling and buying a new car. engine mounts aren't expensive except for that rear one....it's a bitch. the side ones that create axle hop when they go are easy to change. probably $25 each in labor plus parts. the rear one i would have to look at again to get an idea but it's at least $75 in labor..it's a bitch

$450 for a complete motor swap is a good price. Most shops charge $300-400 just for a timing belt, water pump job.

How much money ahead do you think I can get from my LS? I still have a few months of payments till I get the title.

price them on ebay and www.acuraoemparts.com, the ones from acura are higher quality and will live longer. if you drive aggressive the $40 energy suspension mount reinforcement kit will prevent them tearing but it only fits oem mounts. many aftermarket mounts are close to oem but molded ever so slightly different.

Hey thats great information! Its so hard to find mechanics and tuners who actualy know what they are talking about! I know that 3 0f 5 mechanics just try and take my money, and rip me off.

Thanks guys for your help, this is the biggest car project I've ever had.

welcome, but keep in mind some of the prices i put out there were personal labor rates, not shop labor. if someone has overhead to pay for the price has to be higher

Understood, thats why I'm on here and not at the euro and import shop I normaly go to. Because I know the rates. I just can't afford it with how much work I have to get done. That and I have to tow my car to where I get the work done at.

I checked on acura and the OEM motor mounts are like 55-75$ each. Is that reasonable? Going to check junk yards today to see the inventory of 3rd GEN integra's. How realistic is it to think I could find new ones? and is it unrealistic to think I can take them off @ the junk yard?
