just bought a block
so i picked up a d16a6 block yesterday.i also got an si wiring harness, si distributor, and a pm6 for the z6 head. I'm gonna buy the I beam forged rods and some vitara pistons tomorrow. hows this build sound, anyone try this? And for this setup what kind of boost can i run reliably.this is my daily driver. just wondering.
Doesn't sound so good.
Sounds like a whole lot of disappointment and fail as far as electrical goes.
Your PM6 isn't going to do well with a Z6 head.
It has no way of activating vtec.
I'm going to assume your chassis is not an Si.
The Si engine harness will not plug into your chassis harness.
The best method (easiest) is to convert your original engine harness to this engine you plan to run.
How much boost you plan on is totally dependent on the turbo you want to use.
Check out the forced induction forum and search for builds like yours - any D16 motor will be similar.
You should be calculating how much horsepower you want out of this setup and buy the turbo and parts that will get you there.

I don't see much of a point in running a Z6 head with a PM6 ECU. And have fun hacking up an otherwise functional and valuable A6 distributor to make it bolt up to the Z6 head.
Frankly, if you don't intend to do the VTEC conversion properly, you should stop while you're ahead and just run the A6 head - you'll save yourself a lot of frustration and disappointment down the road.

its a 90 dx and i bought a si block for it and i thought you need a si harness for the mpfi swap. i currently have dual point so i got the harness, distributor, and ecu for that and was planning on getting a vtec controller for the vtec activation

Im assuming you will be going turbo with the vitara pistons? The pm6 ecu is a good one to use if your keeping it obd-0 cause you can have it chipped and run turbo edit. Which does have a one wire Vtec option. It can be a very good build if done right. People have alot of success with it.
just add the few wires needed to the DX harness rather than switch the full interior and engine bay harness, its not worth it to do so much work for such an easy addition to the DX harness.
if your running a z6 head id suggest just going obd1. its easier, you can run the correct ecu for the head without chipping or anything if you dont boost right away, has more options for chipping, you get to use a z6 dizzy that bolts right up rather then hacking and modding the a6. and if you go obd1 the jumper harness will have the extra wires you need to hook up vtec, 02 sensor and even a knock sensor.
dont bother with those vtec controllers since it sounds like you dont even know what your doing.

man u really are going about this the hard way dont mess with swapiing the whole car to mpfi just convert the harnesse once u have all the mpfi **** on it wont take u an hour to to wire the extra **** in,
as for the build i would keep the a6 head if u wanna keep it under 300hp much higher and you wont make much more power with out some serious porting and a nice size cam,,

so i should not convert to a full si harness.i have an idea at wat im doing i own a shop with a little machine shop which i spent all day working on the block, reseating the head, and refurbushing all the valvetrain. but i figured wen summer hits im going to do alot of work to the civ cuz ill be drivin my TA.i just wanted to make sure i have everything i need so im ready to just drop it in.but if the dizzy wont bolt up then wat exactly should i look in to buying. sorry if i dont sound to bright but just not used to these foreign cars. i work on v8's
