Default 99 crv intake work for 98?

well picked up a 98 crv for my gf and trying to get it some more power/tq so that when cruising up hills it doesnt kick down the gears (4500rpm) just to keep speed

doing k&n filter and going to advance the timing a little bit , but was wondering if the intakes are interchangable as i heard they make a bit more tq

i dont want to do h/e as she just wants a quiet stock car and wants to average 25mpg, with the trans dropping down like that to just get up hills i feel its killing her gas mileage

The intake is different for 99. It was changed to give it more power.

increases mid power, caused by the chambered IM..
ive experience/noticed significant increase when i switched
my 99 IM to my other 97 crv.. well i think itll gain more if
switched the full head, coz from what was discussed in crv forums,
the cams were different from 97/98 against 99-01, there might
be a difference also in the head internals or structure...!?
try to check part nos. of both cams...also im looking into LS head
the later model.. 98 up, there might be similarities.....

jm2c...
good luck!
