Alaskan D16 cold start problems!
I have a D16a6 that I recently replaced the head gasket on, When I crank the engine in the morning it gets way too much fuel, so much that it will not start. I have been getting it to run by unplugging the injector harness by the drivers side firewall and cranking it while plugging in and out the harness rapidly to meter the delivered fuel. it will sputter a few times and usually after a min or so it will start, once it runs I can plug the harness in and it runs very rough for a while and then seems to do fine when it warms up. I replaced the coolant temp. sensor, and checked for bad grounds and really am scratching my head on this one. The compression is good, but I bought the car in the summertime with a blown head gasket, so, I think maybe the injectors were overheated and like to stick open or something?>
has anyone experienced anything like this.... also I pulled the plugs and all of them look rich. #1 is completely black, 2,3,4 look about the same but still rich. I recently replaced the distributor cap+rotor, Fuel filter, spark plugs, basically did a tune-up on the car but it still will not start! the timing is dead on as well, i have checked and double checked.

nobody??
I am going to try replacing the fuelk injectors, but the injectors in the motor are low-imp. and the only replacement inj. I have layin around are high-imp. Can I use the high imp. If i remove the resistor box?

yes you can. i'm guessing they're either obd 1 or obd2? either way you'll have to change the injector clips as well to one's that plug into the injectors you have.
