Clutch cable stretched an inch while shifting?
I was driving my crx about a week ago when all of a sudden during a shift the clutch pedal hit the floor and would not come back. At the time it was dark and I did not know what to do so I left the car. When I came back the next day I tightened the clutch adjustment at the transmission as much as I could and was able to drive home. The pedal still was not at an ideal setting.
I feel like I should obviously replace the cable. Not sure the best place to buy one or the brand to choose.
I'm wondering what could have caused this? Could something have happened to the clutch internally that would make the clutch act as if the cable had loosened?

yeah.. if you bent your clutch fork, it would do exactly that..
but try and replace the cable, and see if that works... were you driving the **** out of it when it did that? be honest..... cause if you just stomped it too hard, it could have bent it, but most likely just a cable getting ready to snap

best place is obviously honda. now go buy it, slap it on and see what happens. are you sure the cable didnt snap? just because it doesnt look like it, doesnt mean it didnt snap inside the black covering.
It was just a casual shift, not trying to go fast at all. The clutch did start feeling unusual about a week before. The resistance in the pedal felt different, hard to describe.
I was able to drive it home after adjusting the clutch, had to drive about 7 miles with several stops. I just don't see how it could stretch that much, and I don't think I could have bent the clutch fork. Is there any way to check?
I had the same problem awhile back but it was the pedal bracket under the dash. take a look with a flashlight where the pedals mount to the firewall, press on the clutch and see if the bracket is cracked. i had to take it out and weld it, big pain in the a**

i never tried to tighten it, I remember my clutch started to feel weird for a couple of weeks the one day i was at a stop light and i pushed in the clutch and i heard a noise and the pedal went to the floor. I couldnt get it in gear, so I shut off the car put it in first and hit the starter, to get to the side of the road.
yes sir.. bent it in my 88 dx with the b16.. it had a non sprung, 6 puck clutch.. it took ALOT or force to shift, and after beating the **** out of it, it just bent.. lol.. i know its odd.. i think i have some pics at home that i will try to dig out
+1 on the broken clutch pedal bracket.
I'm on my third one myself; they always seem to break like this, My last one tore itself up pretty badly.
