undersze rod bearings?
im doing a rebuild on a d15b7 bottom end, with a y8 head(at this point i guess the head is besides the point) but anyways i got the block back from the machine shop and he said standard size on the rods and the mains for bearings... he didnt do anything to the crank besides polish it... so i picked up both sets, the mains worked fine, but the standard rod bearings i bought were too big, i was just curious as to what size i may need... the bearings that came out when i tore it down say 2D06A with a lil picture ingraved next to them... looks like ih or jh or dh or sum ish.... can anybody help me on this one? id hate to go buy set after set trying to figure out what size i need... anyone know how to measure the bearings?thnx any help is greatly apprecitad
look up "how to plastigauge bearings" and you will know how to do it.. its VERY easy.. Using the search feature is easy too.. lol.. just FYI, hombre..
but yeah.. NEVER take ANYONES advice on bearing sizes, until you measure, cause you CANNOT tell without measuring bearing to journal clearance

Nope.
Plastiguage is to check clearance on you Main bearing to surface. He needs a set of rod bearings and for this you need a bore guage and a machinist micrometer
check the bore on the rod and check the OD on the crank journal.
Go back to the maching shop and have them order the set.

ok maybe i should have re worded this... when i say the standard size rod bearings were too big, i wasnt talkin about thickness. i mean the length of the bearing... it wont even fit down into the connecting rod cap... im thinking they gave me a set of d16 bearings or something
Back to my post I know what you mean. You need to get the Bore (big end on rod) Id number and the crank journal Od number then you can get main bearings.
