What's the nature of a oil press sending unit
ok i know in my 90 accord when oil gets way too low the oil pressure light will fade in from a dim light, to fully lighting up..
this morning it did it, but then i put oil in it, well now its blinking, i'm thinking the oil pickup tube and screen is clogged, but my question is?
What causes an oil light to blink?
and what causes an oil light to fade in and out?
its one sensor but whats the difference between the two modes?

Is the blinking intermitent? or is it in a rythm?
i would check the wiring first to the oil pressure sensor first, then try a different sensor and then i would move onto dropping the pan and checking the pickup tube and screen

it went from a fade in, out, in out.. to blink, blink, blink, blink, luckily when it did this i was only 1/2 mile from home, i drove it at low rpm back and parked it and took the integra to work instead. all i can think is put a mechanical gauge in place of sending unit, crank and test quickly for pressure, and try to drop pan, maybe because oil got low, and then me pouring freshy in floated up some trash that got the screen on pickup clogged.. i was just curious how the sending unit worked, if it just stayed on when press was low, or if its supposed to blink, or what,
knowing the nature of the unit will help me figure out the problem quicker.
