I recently purchased a timing gun and I want to advance my ignition timing by 1 or 2 degrees. Will this work well on my Honda prelude 98' SH its stock but I just want to tune it a little because I have some bolt ons on it(exhaust, intake, pulleys etc.).
How do I go about doing this I've been looking through my chilton manual and it's not giving me clear instructions.
Any help would be appreciated.

really? theres no way to advance the ignition timing on a OBD2. So the only way to play with timing would be to have an ecu tune?

Uh, or there is nothing to turn in OBD2 distributors. You can throw an OBD1 dizzy on there, but if you try to change it, it will just throw a CEL unless you do some re-wiring (search for the threads on here)
OP, yes, a tune (you can use a simple piggyback) is the only way to change timing without doing an OBD1 conversion.

Umm...NO. Adding ignition timing is not always better. The goal of ignition timing is to have the A/F completely burned around 15* ATDC, to make the most torque. Adding or removing timing will decrease torque and possibly damage the engine.
A few things that effect flame speed; A/F ratio, IAT, octane, fuel type, compression ratio, volumetric efficency(VE), RPM, load. So basically everything.
