today i realized that it has become very hard to change gears. the car is a 94 accord auto tranny, when you try to go from "p" to "r" to "n" then "D" it feels like someone is pushing against the shift linkage making it extreamly difficult to put it in gear. while the car is in motion the tranny seems smooth.

also at freeway speeds there is a very loud howl .

is my tranny shot? or is this something else

also fluid level is good.

First check the brake switch, which may be causing the hard shifting of the lever out of Park, etc.

Problem may be a bad switch signal; may need to replace switch.

Are you sure the howl is coming from the transmission? The howl, may be a bad wheel bearing.

I had a weird tranny problem once so I punched it in the adam's apple and it went away.
