Hey whats up h-t, I was wondering how do you tell b series vtec heads apart, is there any markings or castings on them that I could use to find out what kind of head I have. and I know there is a write up on this but also how do you tell b series trannys apart, without taking them apart and counting teeth, is there any marks or castings, I c people refering them by the sticker thats on there but I dont know. so if you have any info that would be great.

GSR heads have square combustion chambers, b16,b17,and itr heads all are round.... also why they flow better

 

theres codes for heads like p72 pr3 etc as posted in the link above,as far as trans go theres stamps like s4c y80 etc a simple google search will find trans codes but some trans share code and thats where the oem vin on usdm trans comes in handy.
