my car blew up.
alright, i was just cruising along, and it sputtered and i could feel it giving out and then, i pushed in the clutch and it died. sat there bored waiting for my ride home. and tried to start it and held it wide open. started. went down the road and died again. didn't start after that. well the breather on the valve cover was blowing smoke out of it. it blew antifreeze everywhere. (of course my temp gauge hasnt worked since i bought the car) down on the bottom of the radiator like on the side more towards the header, theres a little spot that looks like a tube should've been on it. but i looked everywhere and couldn't find a tube that had blown off or anything. i dont know that much but i cant figure out what made it die.
coolant wasnt coming out smoke was. an whats that spot where all the coolant was coming out of i cant take pictures cause my car isnt at my house its in a parking lot waiting to be towed tomorrow. but im assuming there was a plug there and it somehow got knocked off. and just over heated. or if it did blow a head gasket, then maybe it overheated and died then when i started it back up it blew the plug out and pissed coolant everywhere. i reallly dont know much about this stuff yet. just the basics of it all :/

Could be a number of different problems that caused it to overheat. But not having a tempeture gauge that works was your first mistake. What I would do, is start ripping that head off as soon as you get the car to your house and check for any other damage first.
Bad thermostat, bad fan switch, bad water pump, blown head gasket, hole in radiator, leaking coolant hose, or an unhooked coolant hose. Take the car to a shop, so they can pull the head and check for damage. Was the engine making any noise before it shut down, or when you restarted it last; possibly a knocking sound?
The first thing you should have done BEFORE buying the car, was to make the owner fix the temperature gauge problem. That temp gauge is an important thing to keep your eye on, especially with a 14-17 year old car. I had my thermostat fail, and didn't know until the next night (after driving around 70 miles) that my radiator blew to pieces. I watch that thing like a hawk now.
Are you talking about the 2 ports on the bottom of the radiator? If you are, then it's for automatic transmissions.

Yes the ports on the radiator are for the automatic transmission fluid cooler dont worry bout it.
As far as why your car overheated... Why do other cars over heat?
The fact that u didnt have a temp gauge only took away the privelage to stop the car from overheating before it was too late
Funny video. I like the "civic death" video where they replace the oil in the block with water and redline it for like 7 minutes. And take off the header and stick bananas in the combstion chamber until it finally dies after running on water for a while

Most Del Sols from 1993-1995 have faulty temperature gauges. The problem is caused by a bad ECT sensor underneath the dizzy, honda had a recall for it back in the day.
If you overheated it enough to kill it dead and blow hoses off, I personally think your engine's done for.
Aluminum engines aren't meant to run at 280+ degrees, even for a little bit. And since your temp gauge hasn't been working, there's no way of knowing how hot it was running and for how long. God knows what could be wrong with it. I'd start with headgasket, but you have a very good chance of having a warped head and/or block. My magic 8 Ball tells me there's a complete rebuild or swap in your future.
Either way, the head's going to have to come off.
