Need your help. tranny issues!!
I have a 1993 honda prelude with a h23a motor and automatic transmission. Last night i parked my car somewhat on a hill. When i went to back off the hill the car seemed fine, i put the car in reverse and pulled down into a flat. Upon trying to put the car in drive, the shifter refused to go into gear. So in my frustration i pulled harder and eventually got it to go into gear. In D4 i have nothing, no pull. just revs up. in D1, D2, and D3 i have pull and they shift as they should, however when the car shifts it shifts really hard. It also will not shift from 3rd to 4th by itself. I nursed the car home and once i got home and put the car into park, it had no hold. Also I have no pull in reverse. I talked to a friend who is car savy and he said it sounded like my linkage may be bent. This happened instantly, no warning, no nothing. I Drove it, parked it, tried to drive it a few hours later and it all went to downhill. Whats my problem? Linkage, shifter clable, or do i need a whole new trans?
who knows, check tranny fluid level ? But why even fix it ? This is a perfect opportunity for a project manual trans swap, expecially on that H23a motor of yours.. Just buy a beater to get around in the mean time and do the swap, take your time with it, you will be rewarded in the end.
would absolutely love to swap a 5-speed in it. but at the moment thats just not possible. nor is buying a beater to drive in the mean time. money is pretty tight. the fluid levels are good. have been for a while now. thanks for looking though. if anyone else can help i would greatly appreciate it.
just posting again to keep this thing current. Probably against the rules, but as of this moment in time im stranded without my car. please understand
ive got another automatic ill sell to you very cheap.. So if it happens to be your transmission just get back at me and will arrange something.. thanks man
This is why you are supposed to use your parking brake (even on autos)
pull the ebrake up, with the brakes engaged then put into park.
live and learn.

I hope its not. Im hoping i can get away with just replacing the shifter cable. Im having a real hard time locating one for an automatic. None of the auto part stores here have them or can even order them. I checked all the salvage yards for one to no avail. You wouldnt just sale me the shifter cable would ya? lol. How much would you be asking for the tranny?

oh wow thats cheap man. heck of a deal. especially after seeing what a new one costs. what kind of shape is this tranny in? and how many miles are on it? what made you decide to pull that tranny? As cheap as that is, i dont want to pay a mechanic a couple hundred dollars or more to install this thing and then a few weeks later be right back in the same shape im in now. thanks for being a huge help
