I just bought an immaculate 91 hatch completely stock, it's got 2 things wrong with it. It starts, runs, and drives amazing but once it's warmed up it likes to bog down when idling, the battery light flickers a few times and then catches itself, BUT a few times of doing that and it just stalls out and sometimes takes a minute of sitting and starting to start back up. I was told maybe an alternator or something i don't wanna rip into the car and not find the problem. Also i'm sure everyone knows that distinct sound cars make in reverse? Well in 1st through 3rd mainly you hear that growl in the transmission, my guess is tranny fluid low?
Anywho if i could get some input on these problems this car would be MINT!

 

the stalling problem cld be a sensor like your iatv, and 1-3 that growl could be a bearing like your pilot bearing, you sure its more of a growl and not a grind?

 

does it "growl" when sittin in neutral? and when you push the clutch in the growl goes away?

 

If the car is out of gear or clutch pushed in its dead silence, only when clutch engaged and moving forward do i hear it, it stops every time i push the clutch in to shift and as soon as i let it out it continues.

 

the growl is your clutch throw out bearing

 

yeah ive looked around at the throw out bearing and that seems the problem 99% thanx for the help ill replace the clutch and hopefully that solves it. as for the stalling and idling problem? anyone else have clues besides the iat sensor?
