Default y7 to y8 intake and exhaust manifold q's....

ok so I have a 97 dx coupe. I've read a lot about swapping the intake manifold off an ex to get a couple more ponies outta my little motor, but I couldn't find any real dyno sheets. same with the exhaust manifold. i gotta stay legal so i don't want a header. for those of you who have done this, are there noticeable gains in midrange power or is it only topend? also, does anyone have dyno sheets from before and after for comparison? or at least a true whp addition? I'm thinking of doing this swap then in the summer when I won't need a car I will mill the head and do a mild cam to complete my build, any opinions on power gains for a stage one cam, up to 10.5-1 cr, and a tune? thanks

haha. the y7 has a effed up intake mani... swappin to a y8 intk will increase your power a lil bit. really noticable in the lowend. they flow much better. and whats the issue with a header and being legal? as long as you have a cat.. you should be fine.. right?

well no not in california. anything that doesn't look stock (like an exhaust manifold without a heat shield) needs to have a CARB legal number. i get pulled over enough without the officers having any reason to ticket me, i don't want to give them one. civics are often profiled here like I either have a warrant, drugs, or a gun. extremely unfair since I just like having a very reliable gas king.

i don't **** them off! ok ok mi used to have a loud exhaust, but i have driven other beat up loud and obviously not street legal cars and trucks before and never have I been pulled over as much as i do in the civic. and not once was for speeding or violation of traffic laws. they just blame it on modified exhaust. i had a f100 and a ranger with open headers, never got pulled over for modified exhaust
