Default If I remove power steering... questions

Just curious... seems like my 2000 Honda Civic SI has the worst turn around radius EVER!!! How would I go about checking the power steering to see if its working?

Another question... if I were to remove it to clean up the engine bay a little... how much of a difference would it make on the steering? Is it even a noticable difference?

Thanks in advance!

This has been covered tons of times. Do a search and you should find lots of articles/threads on this. Some will tell you it makes it very hard to steer, some will say it doesn't make much difference. Depends on the person, I have mine removed and even in tight parking lots it doesn't bother me. But as said, theres lots of posts about this matter.

with the power steering removed, it feels much much better. it improves the handling significantly. well, for me at least. when the car is not in motion and you're trying to steer it is very stiff, but with a little gas you can turn the steering wheel with ease. its just a pain when trying to get out of a tight parking spot, but hey, it doesn't bother me a bit!

i don't thing removing the power steering would affect the turning radius. besides if you don't plan on switching your steering rack from power to manual its pretty pointless imo
