Sticky Wet Steering Wheel - EW!
I still have the original "leather wrap" steering wheel on my 1997 Accord - Can't get rid of it because it has the cruise control controls on it.
The top part of the "leather" is worn away some ... And the other day I left the windows open and it rained into the car, and the wheel got a bit wet. When I got in that car after the rain, my hands pretty much STUCK to the top of the steering wheel where it was worn away. This black "tar" substance remained on my hands -EW!! It's almost like the "leather" turned into this "tar" crap. But when the wheel is dry, it's fine - still looks and feels worn, but at least it doesn't stick to my hands!.
This happen to anyone else? Any solutions / suggestions on how to "fix" this?

8-trac? What's that? Must be some old racing spot.
Sorry, only 19. Never got to enjoy such things. But ya, if I were you I would just pick up a cover at WalMart for $10.

I don't seem to recall 8-tracks being "enjoyable". LP's were another matter however, especially the cover art ! You guys ARE missing out there.
Anyway, back to the subject, what IS the deal with Honda steering wheels ? Everyone I have been in has a problem with the top of the wheel. Since mine doesn't have air bags I plan to install an aftermarket wheel and adapt the cruise to it somehow, I'd be afarid to price a stock wheel.

Have you checked on this website. http://www.accordstore.com They deal in nothing but 94-97 Accords.
