CRX STRUT replacements
I hear a knocking sound on bumpy roads and am thinking I need to replace all way around. Sort of restoring my 91 crx si with 100k anyhow but would like a suggestion on replacements and the process to do it. I have spring compressor but just have not actually ever replaced struts. Can someone lay out the steps.. I am not looking to lower the car. It runs and handles pretty well as is.. I had rather see it set up similar to maybe a rally type car anyhow. My daily driver...
Replacing the struts is definitely not hard. If I remember right just remove the wheel, compress the spring, unbolt and remove the strut/spring and reverse for installation. If you want a stiffer ride and you have $ go for the koni yellows. If not then koni reds, tokico blues, and kyb gr-2s are good as well, especially since you are not lowering. Word of advice, wd-40 the hell out of the strut bolts before you try to remove them. I broke both rear ones and had a hell of a time getting them out.
Here is a writeup for a newer civic but they are very similar. It should give you a really good idea of what you have to do.

i don't even use a spring compressor, lol. just unbolt the fork, unbolt the top two nuts in the engine bay, and wala! then use the allen wrench, and wrench, and take the top off. then reverse with new strut. its cake.
