Default engine rpm vs. road speed

i drive a civic esi with a stock d16z6 engine. i am wondering if there should be something like a ratio between engine rpm and road speed?

for example, when i am in 4th gear, at 2000 rpm, my speed reads 60 kph. when at 5th gear, 2000 rpm, my speed is 80 kph.

i sometimes feel that this is too much rpm for the given speed or is this just normal?

I have noo clue what you just asked but I can tell your european, Iam german, just type deutch if you know any so I can help you!

By the way you do have a problem if your speedometer is reading 2000rpm at 60kph in 4th and 80kph in 5th cause the real numbers should be around 53 and 66 for that rpm for a d16z6. Iam also almost sure the edm esi doesnt come with an d16z6 too?

your talking about your transmissions gear ratio.. thats what its called.

how many times your transmission ( and there fore wheels) spins compared to your engine

meister, i am from asia and i understand the euro version of this civic shares the most commonality with ours than its usdm counterparts.

i have had the clutch disk replaced because it was worn out already. could this action have changed the gear ratios and affected the performance?

is there any adjustment perhaps that can be done to bring this to the numbers you said?

Change the ratios? No. Affect performance? Yes, depending on what parts were used.

No way to adjust the gear ratios without physically changing the gears, the final drive, or the tire diameter. However, the last 2 would change the actual speed without changing the speedometer readings.
