02 acura rl check engine light/timing belt issue?

02 acura rl check engine light/timing belt issue?
my 02 acura rl was jump idling tonight. had the car for 5 months now my check engine light just went on tonight out of nowhere 1st time ever. ive been getting the scheduled maintenance done lately the only thing they said im supposed to do is change the fluids.
however tonight it was real cold out like 25 degress i got outa work to warm the car up before i left and when i came back to leave it was jump idling. while the car was on and idle it was jumping from 1rpm to the 2 rpm also putting stress on the engine like i was pressing the gas. this happened on my old 98tl and i think it was the timing belt....i forget tho it was awhile ago
is this a belt issue? i turned the car off and on a few times to see if the jump idling went away and it did, however the check engine light is still on is there a way i could check my timing belt in my 02 rl? the stupid dealer said he couldnt he was like its either we replace it or do nothing we cant take a look at it....their ********. so what do u guys think?
i bought the car at 95k from a dealer who bought it at the auction and he said the timing belt was changed but who knows you cant trust that right.. thanks for the help..tomorro im gonna take it to autozone to see what the check engine light says.
if the belts dont need replacement the only other thing i could think of is some sort of sensor maybe.. thank you for the help

does it also launch forward when you release the brake pedal in drive?
I had the symptom you had and it was the IACV, might wanna get it checked out.

what the hell is a iacv and to answer ur other question i dont know because it stopped doing it, when it was jump idling before i let it sit and not drive it

just got back from autozone, the code that came up was P0505 idle air control system i guess? autozone didn't have it specifically for hondas tho but rather lexus, kia, mazda, domestic, and toyota which was weird so i couldn't even see what the code meant for my car specifically.....so what do you guys think?
