Hi there
I have a 1996 Civic Hatchback CX. It is Standard without Power Steering. My Sub Frame / Cross Member is rusted out on one side and I need to replace the whole structure. I would like to get help on the following:
Will a Sub frame / Cross member from a 96 - 00 Civic with Automatic Tranny and Power Steering fit my Civic although it is without Power Steering and is Standard?
Thanks to all that will help.
Oh yeah, almost forgot....Is the proper name for the Sub Frame / Cross Member in Hondapartsnow.com called the Rear Beam?

or are you talking about the front
or are you talking about the front
Yes, it should work fine. You could either convert your car to power steering or put your manual rack on the new sub frame and call it a day.

Nope. I am talking about the Sub Frame / Cross Member that houses the steering rack in the front near the firewall. Compare these 2 pictures in the links below. The Illustration provides a picture not so great compared to the actual picture of the Frame.

I'm not sure about '96 - '00 but the '92 - '95 civics use a different subframe between models with power steering and those without, the mounting points for the rack are different in such a way that you can't use a power rack on a manual subframe and vice versa, theres no difference between automatic and manual subframes though, only thing is all automatics have PS so you're limited to 5 speed base models.

Help is greatly appreciated. I have an opportunity to buy one from an automatic but I need to know if it fits. Its buried under lots of snow and I dont want to be bothering with it for nothing. BUMP!
It's the same no matter if it's auto or manuel, the difference is the rear Mount between auto and Manuel.
