Default is it safe to not use the brace under the intake manifold?

i know alot of people dont use it, is it ok to do this? will it cause any stress on the threads or studs holding the intake mani to the head?

i've seen several cars run fine without the brace, no cracks or anything. it's a "better safe than sorry" situation though... unless you have a really great and impressive reason why you need to leave it off, keep it.

I've had it off since I put on my Y8 mani about 6-8 months ago... it seems to be fine...

one day I may curse myself for not having it though when something breaks, it can't hurt, I just need to pick one up at a junkyard or something and haven't

^^This^^

I know a ton of people leave them off but I, for one, tend to think that if an engineer with years of schooling and a job on the line thought that it was needed, then he probably had a good reason.

I don't always keep OEM parts of dubious functionality installed, but I do when there's no real reason not to remove them.

Personally though, if I bought a swap that was missing the IM bracket or something, I'd probably leave it off.

that brace thing is bogus. no reason to worry about it.
