Thefts of year 2001+ Civics.
I had a 2000 Civic LX Sedan stolen in front of the house after coming back from watching Pacquiao/Cotto at a friend's house. I got it back and sold it.
Usually thieves will go for an older car if it's a fast, easy steal. I really was not expecting these sons a bitches to steal it. The damn thing was stolen at 6:30 AM on a Sunday morning with a steering wheel lock on it. It did not have a club, but it was a steering wheel lock made by Winner International. One end of the lock was a fork and the other side clamp locked by key. They sawed it in half but could not get the clamp off. They must have not gotten too far driving with a half a steering wheel lock on it since it would draw attention. The only thing I can figure out was that it must have been used for a heist and it was easy to pop the ignition and start it with a screw driver.
Since I was very happy with my old Civic, I am not thinking twice about buying another one. I do not think I will go for a sub 2000 year model though. I would like a 2001 and newer one. So here's my question.
How much of a difference does it make to have that electronic device starter key on the newer ones?

Thanks. Thought so too. Car thieves are lucky if the cops catch them. All I want for Christmas (even though I am Muslim) is to catch a thief in the act of breaking into a car.

Keep telling yourself that. All you have to do is search the boards and look at all the insurance auctions. And alot of them are stock.

i used to hear of a few getting stolen.i can almost understand how to do it but it problaly would take a bit of time.
and my 05 has no chip in it but it is laser cut so i figure that the anti theft garbage ( adds wieght ... lol) is inside the igniton
and any car is stealable. tow trucks don't need keys to start your car.

lol never had a problem but my friends was taken for a joyride and then just dumped with no damage. they probly figured the car was to slow to steal lol. no worries here though, i live in horse country and off a dirt road where almost everyone drives huge *** trucks

Did he brake or steel anything in the car?
Yeah. Stolen from the car were about 20 CDs bought from a music store, A DC-AC inverter and a full size spare.
Get this I had a construction site parking pass hang tag left behind. They could have stolen an excavator. Matter of fact they could have stolen the low boy that can steal the excavator. Illiterate fools.
