well tach and speedo are 2 diff things...tach is elctrical and since you still have an si cluster then your speedo is cable driven. is the speedo cable in the vss on the trans? that lil clip come out?? take a looksee
that little clip is in-existent lol. i pushed it in all the way tho and tried moving a little and get no response tho, is the clip really all that necessary? even to just test and see if it works?
Pull the cable out of the tranny (since the clip is nonexistent) and have somebody sit in the car and look at the speedo. Spin the cable by hand and they should see the speedo needle jump.
If it doesn't jump then either the cable isn't plugged into the back of the cluster properly or the cable is snapped.
When you figure out what the deal is with the cable then you really should use a clip - the cable has a way of working it's way out of the tranny. You can use a small paperclip or solid wire to make your own.
If the speedo still doesn't work after you tested it by hand and have put it into the tranny properly with clip then you'll need to pull the gear drive out of the tranny and see what condition it's in.
