I have an oil light that is flickering on while idling. This is after making sure that there is enough oil in the sump. It turns off immediately if I hold the RPM above 900 or so. Anyone seen anything like this? Is this the beginning of an oil pump failure?

 

It sounds like a bad oil pump. Once you throttle, it builds enough oil pressure in the system to turn the light off.
