Default spongy brakes on a 99 accord that I am buying from a dealer

OK I am buying a used 99 accord ex from a dealer with 106k miles for 5k. The brakes did not feel right on test drive. They stopped and did not chatter or pulsate but there was a lot of pedal travel/felt spongy/like there was air in the system. I just called the dealer and the shop said they got a little air out of the lines but dealer said brakes feel the same to him(and he of course thinks they feel fine).

Now I am fairly expercienced with cars. I have rebuilt big block mopar engines. I am 42 and have worked on a lot of cars from major stuff to just brakes. I even once replaced an accord engine it was an 86 or 87 for a neighbor and was only engine I did not drop in but instead came up from underneath.

Now the accord definitely had new pads front and back. Front rotors were supposedly turned but I don't think so from my inspection.

I pumped the brakes like crazy to see if I could get a leak on the ground get brake fluid level to drop

Are the brakes just not bled right? Could it be something else. Is there anything about the abs system in the accord the dealer's mechanic could be missing?

I tried to set up an appointment at local honda dealer but they could not see it until thursday and I want to pick it up on wedensday as we are supposed to be getting a snow storm and I have a summer vehicle that I don't want to drive in NY salt and snow.

Any thoughts help would be appreciated.

well eI guess this is just how the brakes feel on these cars. I have had car for almost a week and have had car on lift and checked everything and all seems ok. As we got a snowstorm here I slammed brakes on often and abs worked right and am not getting a brake warning light and not using fluid so I guess it is good.

On a side note I am really suprised how quick the car feels. It feels quicker then my 09 Fusion with the 6(that has under 4k miles on it) and that has a higher hp rating but does have traction control and that "drivewire"(electronic throttle) so I may be getting fooled just by the mechanical throttle.
