Have an 00 type R and can't seem to get the CEL off to get an inspection sticker!
The code is random misfire...
The car is completely stock

NEW OEM:
spark plugs & wires...ignition timing is good
both 02 sensors & new cat.
valve adjustment is perfect & compression is good

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated..Thanks

 

Check the ICM.

 

yeah, definitely check out ur igniter(ICM) or coil

 

well...you haven't tried everything... It's your spark plug tube seals. The seals are between your valve cover and cylinder head. The 4 seals are worn out and causing an oil leak and need changing. Check by pulling out the spark plug cable and see if there is an oil residue at the end. The oil is shorting out your spark to the plug. Get this fixed and clear the codes and you'll be good for inspection!

Any word on this one? Did you fix it? I need to get mine starting better and I suspect the ICM.
