A little help needed, I am getting a code 16 and 20
Alright so today as i was on my way home sitting at a light my cel turned on. When I got home it said code 20 and 16. I have ran this ecu for about 200 miles. My other ecu never throws any codes, both are p28 one is chipped with a phearable basemap the other is chipped with a stock p30 map. The engine is a b16a2 and the wiring is obdI.
As far as the code 20 goes I have noticed that when sitting at light with no stereo if i bump the gas the lights get brighter. Does my car have an eld i know there are alot of issues with that when swapping ecus since some don't have them. If it does what is my best route to get this to turn off. Are there some things I should check before just having someone disable it on the ecu? Could this have anything to do with running two 12" 800 watt subs
The code 16 I am a little worried about because the last ecu i tried was a stock usdm p30 and it blew a cap and threw a code 16 after it blew that was right around 150 miles as well. It is weird because i have run about 5-6k miles with the phearable ecu and never had a problem with this injector code. The injectors in there are from a y8. I haven't recently checked the wiring but when i swapped them i checked quite a few time. Is there anything that commonly causes this code. The car seems to run fine but doesn't idle smooth all the time, sometimes it will drop really low but this is somewhat rare.
Cliffs: -no problems with phearable p28
- p28 chipped w/ p30 stock map throws codes 16(injectors)and 20 (eld)
- car runs fine with occasional low idle
- lights flicker

your eld basically reads the cars amps and such.
there was another thread where someone was getting the same eld code, and he ended up replacing the fuse (eld fuse, 30 amp?) and then the next code he got was for his alternator.
And ELD reading the wrong voltage will cause the car to go haywire (problems start to exist that really don't) and an alternator that doesn't put out the proper base power will do the same.
Get the ELD replaced.
Then scan again if there is still a light.
All in all I personally think its one or the other. If anyone else has input lets hear it.

Not to link other forums, but this is quiet accurate on learning ELD.
