Default 1994 Accord ex

Just bought one. I am joining this forum to do some basic repairs myself.
Sorry guys, somehow the following didn't get posted.
When I turn the Temp **** on my dash, the **** springs back a couple notches. Feels like something on the engine end of the cable(?) is tight and needs oil. Or should I plan on replacing some parts?

**** might be busted, you can usually just pull the **** off.

Yeah, first thing, pull the **** straight off and make sure the back isn't cracked...if it is, you can replace that pretty cheap.

If the **** is fine, take a look at the heater control valve...it's under the hood, on the passenger side, right up next to the firewall. You'll see a cable coming through that connects to a valve on one of the hoses. When you turn the temp control ****, this is what ultimately gets moved. If you can have someone move the **** while you watch the valve, you can verify that the valve is working. When the **** springs back, try manually pushing the valve to see if it will move the rest of the way. If you can verify that the valve is working ok (ie it's not jammed up or something) then your problem lies with either a bent or loose cable (there are two cables involved).

Every 5th gen i have driven, no matter what trim or chassis, if they have the heater ****, is always pulls back just a wee bit when you turn it. Honda has managed to make a great vehicle when the did the accord but it cant be perfect, thats only a minor thing when you think about it.

and please post some pics!!!

Yeah, the heater control valve is sticking alittle. You can try to spray some silicon lube on it. Also, I head a 6th gen valve is made better but you have to do a little mod on it to install it.
