Default Best swap for UNDER $3,000 for EK?

I want to do an engine swap on my car, but I dont really want to spend over $3,000 because the car itslef is barely worth that plus it's going on 14 years old now. I dont want a race car! I just want something faster than my POS D16y7. I would like to be able to beat new RSX's and Si's. What are my options? And where is a good place to buy?

posted in other thread but would like others opinions

if you want to beat new K series engines, get a K engine (which is way more than 3k)

or get a B and boost it

most likely an LS/vtec and boost it

Negative.

EK's are lighter then RSX's and Si's, so you dont need as much motor.

If I were you I would find a GSR locally shouldn't be more then 1500, then grab some bolt ons. Cams, exhaust, Intake manifold and TB should be more then enough and will only cost around 2gs with self done labor.

ive never seen a gsr for 1,500. well not a stock one at least

most of them on the marketplace are usually built and dont part out.

if he does swap, make budget for the other things like motor mounts, or swap tools if you dont have them already

The cheapest I have seen a full GSR swap is for $2,900 online. What is a good site to go to?

where do you live, i was just searching the marketplace for a gsr swap

found a FULLY BUILT complete swap for 2200, and it sounds like a deal of the century,

could fit into your budget if you dont need it shipped

http://hondamarketplace.com/showthread.php?t=2691833

be weary though, this guy doesnt have much cred here and the engine could be easily stolen

He said he didn't want a race car. (Im thinking he wants something reliable, turbo is not reliable). Even though this would be the cheaper option if he wanted to beat those cars.

or you could check your local race shops, theres at least 3 here that would sell it at that price.

why can't turbo be reliable? A decent tune, decent quality parts.... As long as you don't beat on it constantly, it should last.

Put a jdm h22 in there. Under your budget and good power for the EK.

hmotorsonline.com is by far the best honda motor importer ive come across. there reputation is stellar. they stant behind it no questions asked and i know of abou t30 motors that came from them. that ran great. and were super super clean. almost hot tank clean.

but id look into an h22a swap they can be had for around 2200 with the lsd tranny and mounts and swap axles will run you about 450-550 depending on what ones you buy. nothing like the bottom end tourque of an h22 in an ek/eg. they are so much lighter that to make a sweet car you dont need much more. and everyone will say omg its so much heavyer. its not. its about 65 lbs more than a gsr. and lets be real its not like a civic has the best front to rear balance anyways. i did an h2b swap with a type s motor and a built b16 tranny and the thing was insane. and it still handles and stoped nicly

single cam turbo > b series swap
you can make 200 whp reliably on a d16
and it costs less than a b series swap

you could always buy my K20a2 for 2800 freshly built with JE pistons (hot tanked, blasted and ready to make hp). but then you are really into it deep. You'll need a trans and kpro and mounts. Just thought i'd give you something to say "F that" to. haha.
