Default Will a TL type S transmission work in regular TL?

I am sorry for the double post but I am not sure where else to put this that someone might be able to help me!
I have a 2002 3.2TL and the transmission has a flairing issue, so the transmission needs to be replaced. I am not sure that I would trust rebuilding it since it is very costly not to mention time consuming to do it right. My question is would the TL type S transmission work fine? I talked to tech line today (I am a Honda Tech) and they told me that it would probably work but that the shift points may be different and the type S has 20 more HP (which I already knew) so they could not say for sure that it would work then they said to make it work properly I might need to swap the ECU. Has anyone done this and if so did it work ok.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance.

Is it a auto or a manual. Typically the bolt patterns will be the same, but like the (example) ECU like the H22 auto and F22 auto have different shift patterns. So if were a auto and I wanted my shift patterns to be right The answer would be yes. Why don't you buy a rebuild kit that has stronger bands from a rebuilders website and rebuild it your self, you have all the documentation if your a Honda Tech? Honda transmissions are hard to pull apart if you don't know what your doing.

I don't want to rebuild it because it costs just as much to rebuild it properly as it is to buy a reman one from honda. You have to replace two big solenoids and two to three smaller ones, then you have to replace all the clutch packs, and then rebuild the torque converter, and replace all the seals and bands. Therefore I priced it out myself and it saves me about $100 to rebuild it vs replacing it with a reman one. I found a new type S trans for about $800 less than the standard transmission, that is why I am asking this question. I could do a half *** job and replace the bare minimum however that is not how I do things and I only want to do it once. So If I could get a type S ecu, that would work however the timing for the engine would probably be off since the type s has different cams and timing set up.
The car is an automatic as are all TL's

Check to see if the wiring is the same. I had to this on a OB2 to OB1 swap with a auto. You should be good it just sounds like the gearing is different. What does the seller tell you?
