Default 1997 CL immoblizer question

okay my brothers girlfriend just bought a 97 2.2 AUTO CL with 165k for $2500.
They test drove it and every was okay. They even started and shut it off a couple of times.
It did not come with key or alarm.

When they drove it home and parked it on the driveway, the next morning it would not start. The dash indicates that it's the Immoblizer.

question:
1) How the heck did they start it several times and drive it home if the immoblizer was working?

2) Do they have to reset the battery for 2 mins or is there an internal memory in the ECU that has to be reset?

3) couldn't I just go to junkyard and get accord ECU since it's the same motor and tranny?

4) Do we have to get a new key and immoblizer through the dealership?
how much should that run ?

Thanks guys....
Charlie

Update

I go over and try to start the car.

What happens is that the car won't turnover.... the headlights and dash lights keep blinking on-off, it only stops if the key is taken out.

So I remove the NEG battery ground battery cable, wait 2 mins & re-attach.
The car starts right up.

My guess it that 97 CL(2.2) might not come with immobilizer.
It might just be aftermarket alarm.....
It was dark so i didn't have time to check under the steering colum for any aftermarket alarms/wires....

any thoughts?

There is no immobilizer feature on the 1st gen CL. It only comes with a very basic factory alarm like the Accord.

i found out I could bypass the OEM alarm by just unplugging the hood pin.
