Fuel Gauge Issue...Help?
I own a '94 civic with a functional, stock cluster. Zero problems but what irritates me the most is mainly the fuel gauge. It works fine in terms of getting the correct amount of MPG but the tach fluctuates each time I'm on the gas pedal. It would slowly tend to move up and down. However, when on a full stop it returns to it's original amount of fuel remaining. Is this normal for our cars? Any help is appreciated.

I own a 98 EX and my car does the very same thing. It annoys the **** outta me. I think its just how honda civics are. They are built economical and therefore lack baffles inside the gas tank (atleast thats what i think its missing since I read somewhere that said baffles keep the fuel from sloshing around inside the tank, causing irregular readings)
My buddy has a dc2 integra, and i don't remember his fuel tank ever really moving around. then again i never really paid his car's guage as much attention as i do mine so i could be wrong.

It's not a problem for me personally but it just gets irritating as it teases you how much fuel+/- you might have left.
Ah, glad I'm not the only one.

I think I remember a Honda News Letter or Technical Service Bulletin regarding a ground wire for the Civics, which may be causing this. I may have to see if I can find that and see if it is applicable to your year Civic.
