Default Shifting into D3 or D4 very slowly!

I have a bit of an issue with my 1990 Accord EX 4cyl Auto, it was tolerable in warmer temperatures, but the problem seems to be getting worse with the cold winter weather approaching.

Get in start it up, I usually let it rev down below 1500 at least before driving away. Back out usually the Red square around the R (reverse) doesn't appear although it does reverse. Then go to put it in D3 and it goes forward slightly (no green square around D3) then a slight clunk, the light for D3 comes on and I'm off... This is getting slower with the cold weather!

Shifts perfect once in gear 90 000 original kilometer car, I just drained the tranny fluid twice and replaced with 6 litres of Honda Z1 ATF. (realize thats not a complete change yet, but the fluid is super clean)

Please school me guys!

Cheers
Eric

Thank you Redbull-1

I was wondering if that site would have a right up on the TCM, it worked wonders for diagnosing and fixing the PGM-FI relay in two cars in my fleet this past summer!

Anyone else have experience with my transmission issue?

Issue fixed by taking out the center console, removing the gear selector switch/contacts and cleaning throughly with electronic contact cleaner, giving a light coat of die electric grease and re installing...

I suspect it was a moisture issue, as the contacts were dry and somewhat dirty!

very happy fixed with no new parts! Gotta love hondas, in the spring i'm going to take the transmission solinods off and clean them just for fun!

cheers
