Depends on whether it's a true Type-S, or whether it's an S-Spec sold as a Type-S. The Type-S come with ATTS (Active Torque Transfer System), like the Prelude SH does. So it's a different setup than the rest of the H22As, and will likely not work with an H2B kit. The S-Spec H22A however, has the transmission and the intermediate shaft connect to it like other H22As, so it will definitely work.

The physical engine is the same as the regular H22A, it's the internals that are different.

The easiest way to tell the difference between the Type R and the Type-S/S-Spec is the intake manifold. The Type-S/S-Spec engines have an intake manifold like the regular H22As, with the IAB ("Secondary Butterfly"), the Type R doesn't. You could also check the transmission code, if you get it with the engine.

GSR/ITR/CTR boxes are stronger

B16/LS boxes are cheaper for a reason
