Has Anyone tried polishing valve cover.
I am trying to polish my new valve cover.
i was wondering if anyone out there had a better idea than what i am doing. i am useing a drill with a soft brissle wire brush attachment.

that will take forever,just take it to a polisher.Trust me you'll be more happy with the results rather than spending hours and hours sanding then polishing it out.
I have a great idea.. use the SEARCH utility.. because there are a million topics on this and how its done. Not to be a dick.. just giving you the heads up.

but it took a hella long time
take to a polisher if you wanna save time but if not do it yourself

If you want to do it yourself the best way to do it is take the time and use plain old sand paper. Start with a low grit, around 150 depending on if there are any stray marks... then work up to about 2000 grit. Then use a buffing wheel and polish it to that elusive mirror shine once you've removed ALL those little casting dimples...

after your done with the soft wire wheel switch to a buffing wheel and try different buffing compounds . mothers polish works good for the final .
