Grinding noise 100 miles after swap (drivetrain?)
I installed a d15b7 in my 92 Civic cx hatch a few months ago and just started driving it today. No CELs or anything, everything seemed perfect. On the way to drop my ep3 off at storage, my girlfriend (driving the eg) calls, and says it randomly started grinding (not while shifting). So we both pull over and I can hear the grinding while it's idleing. We switched cars, I'm in the eg, and the grinding gets a little bit worse from 1st to 2nd-3rd-4th. It sounds like a washer spinning extremely fast on a rod. But when I shift into 5th, the sound is unbearable - it sounds nearly identical to a starter grinding on an already-started car, yet I can maintain speed in 5th. I drove all the way home in 4th as the grinding is not near as bad as in 5th.
The sound can be heard in any gear, out of gear and with the clutch depressed but I believe it is not the engine because it doesn't get worse as rpm's increase, only with higher gears.
My clutch pedal seems a bit too easy to depress, could improper/incomplete clutch bleeding cause my problem?
I need to drive this car to work tomorrow afternoon. Thanks a lot for any suggestions.

sounds like a bearing inside the tranny probably off the countershaft or something, does it dissappear with when you press the clutch? or get worse or nothing?
The sound is much more abrupt and harsh than any bad bearing I've ever heard.
Sounds like an awful grind.
is there fluid in the tranny? sounds like the tranny to me. if it was the motor it would still make the noise with the clutch disengaged. unless the clutch isnt diengaging.
