honda is charging me $75 bucks to cut the key. $50 for the uncut key fob. $110 for programming, which i dont know if you can program the window drop and trunk pop at home (?).
anyways, can a third party key store cut my keys like home depot or something?
many thanks.

lmao it should be 75 for the key and cut is free!!! thats how it was when I worked there, they're just trying to rip you off and 75 for the cut key is still a rip off btw but that's what we would charge and the 110 program only takes them 10 min sadly lol all in all its a rip off
check this link to your other thread. lol https://honda-tech.com/forums/honda-accord-crosstour-2003-2012-118/honda-key-fobs-2690896/
Keys for modern vehicles are not cheap, nor simple. The programming require special electronic equipment (unless you have a GM which you can program with the 3-10 rule) and a code from the manufacturer that coincides with your VIN number. The code alone can cost up to $35 then factor in the blank itself, time to cut, time to program.... you're lucky to get a key cut for a late model car for less than $200.
My knowledge comes from a year and a half of cutting keys at a local repo yard and we generally got paid $150 per key we cut for a major lender. And that's a "group buy" discount as we would typically cut up to 20 keys per lender, per week.

yeah its really expensive with the laser cut keys. before i had my accord, i owned and audi a4 and i only had one key for it, i went to the audi dealer to see what a spare would cost me. i fixed some minor motor issues with the money it would have costed for an extra key. its just plain rediculous

reasonable to cut? you're kidding right? those asian places only charge like $2-3 on the conventional keys. and yes i understand the new keys are much more "high tech" but lets be serious.
The key (blank) is $50.
The cut is $75.
The programming is $110.
Anyone knows if the online procedures work because I don't want to mess up my current programmed key?
