Default Security light stays on dash?

Hi, I was just test driving a car that I'm really interested in driving but I had a concern. It was a 2001 civic EX, and the green key on the dash (I think it's called the security light?) stayed on during the entire drive. The dealer thought this was normal but my dad had the same car and he says it isn't. So, what could this mean? Could it be very bad? Could it be nothing? Please help me out!

Light should come on when starting car and go out I believe. Should never stay on when car is running. Will illuminate when trying to start the car with an unprogrammed key.

^Yep.

It's in the owner's manual.

No one said it wouldn't run with the right key. If it was the wrong key, it would have been blinking and would not have ran. You light just stays on, which is not normal.

The immobilizer system logic is in the ECU.
