Hey guys, I'm fairly new to the Honda scene and just bought a nice EK hatch with a full Type R swap, I really like the car but I can't stand the harsh vibrations from the Avid Mounts in it! Are there any options out there to smooth this thing out some? Its a DD for me and as you all know all the vibes get old on my 40mile trip to work and back!
Make your own mounts. Buy some black roofing sealant and some cheap *** ebay mounts ( non solid ) full the gaps with the flexable roofing sealant, it will absorb alot of the vibrations.

change out the mounts. maybe you could just cut little bits out of the avid mounts to stop some of the vibrations traveling into your a$s/chassis. sounds sketchy to me though, wouldn't want to be responsible for the motor clunking out onto the road on a morning commute to work...
why do that? waste of money on buying sealant. doesnt make much difference. just buy some oem mounts.

Get some OEM mounts and sell your Avid ones, they're worth more.
If you have torque mounts, you could remove them. They're not needed with aftermarket mounts and it may smooth it out a little.

exactly. those torque mounts keep the motor from rocking back and forth which w/o them put all the torque and inertia stress directly on the motor mount with can lead to flexing, or broken mounts prematurely. a solid mount will not give like a soft mount which will break not bend/flex
i have avid mounts in my Ek and my EG and I dont have alot of vibrations, feels like stock(well maybe not totally like stock but close). Maybe there is another problem with your motor

Any ideas what it could be then if it isn't the mounts? The motor runs great. It may be that it has cams in it as well which I know makes the idle much rougher.
