Swapping a B16A (1st Gen) into a stock 91 Civic HB
Ok... I tried to find this on here but couldnt find it, and you guys have been very helpful getting me info on what to look at and how to find certain info.
I have a straight stock 91 Civic Hatchback... no alterations yet. I am looking to get me a B16A (1st Generation) for my car. I was wondering what parts will I need on top of the engine and transmission to make it fit my car.
And how do I go about getting them? Any and all info would be helpful. Thanks for your guys time.

lol!
thats the kind wiring that comes whit ur year civic. it changes whit each generation civc i belive. what model civic do u have dx or si? becuase u might have to do the famous 2 injector to 4 injector swap.or DPFI-MPFI swap

The engines I keep looking at come with the ECU and the wires to it... wouldnt that take care of it... or am I looking for something more?
OBD = On-Board Diagnostics. i think
0 = 88-91
1 = 92-95
2 = 96-2000 -1
If you are using the pr3 ecu which might come with the swap then its obd0.
if you plan on using a chipped p28, etc. then its obd1

ok... I got another question... this article said to get a PR3 ECU... but when I do research on it it says it is a OBD0 does that have the 4 injector controllers???
And while I am at it... I gotta another question. Lets say I need to replace my spark plugs, alternator, timing belt, starter and what not. It says that I need to goto the auto part store and get the ones made for a del sol. Is that correct and if so what year??? It didnt say.
I have a PR3 sitting on my desk that is OBD1 - they come in both OBD flavors.
Check out this link for some easy info on visually identifying the OBD of an ECU.

OBD is specifically the electronic engine management system on the motor.
The motor itself can not be identified with the term OBD.
Each OBD version has a few specific electronic sensors that are unique to it's version.
If you buy the motor and the ECU isn't included, then you will have to figure out what OBD set up is on the motor.
You can 'sort of' go by the year of the engine, BUT performance minded people often change electronics for tuning. It is easier to find people to tune and OBD1 system than OBD0 so people change out to necessary items on they factory OBD0 engine to run the OBD1 ECU.

OK... another issue... I know that 1st Gen has about 160 HP and 2nd Gen has 170 HP and some of these places Im looking at dont specify 1st and 2nd Gen. Due to the money of it Im going to line up and buy all the parts before I get the engine (1st Gen). How screwed am I if I accidently wind up with a 2nd Gen after I buy all the parts?
BTW... I want to say thank you guys for being patient with me and explaining things simply and thoroughly. I really appreciate it :-D
OK... I got an easy one for you. Im looking at buying these seats

If you have decided to go obd0 and you get a second gen motor you'll need obdo injectors, distributor and ecu. then you're good to go.
