Default what can cause 2nd gear to grind at high rpm?

looks like on the main shaft there is no 2nd gear? correct me if im wrong. but on the countershaft there is a 2nd gear, so im assuming i have to replace the second gear on the counter shaft to stop my 2nd gear from grinding on high rpm? thanks in advanced for reading this thread.

You have something (or all things) worn in the 2nd gear synchro ring, synchro sleeve, synchro hub, or gear itself.

The mainshaft has a 2nd gear by the way, it's part of the shaft itself, not seperate.

This won't cause the gear to grind. And you'd hear it as a constant whir.
