Inconsistant Engine Crank
Hi everyone,
I am new to this forum so please give me grace if i make errors.
Anyways tonight i had an odd occurrence as i tried to start my car. Everything seemed fine as i jumped in. Interior lights came on, radio turned on and my radar detector kicked in as i let my fuel pump prime as i always do. When i went to start the engine all i heard was a click and no crank. It is very similar to trying to start the engine with the clutch pedal up. I tried several times to no avail. I checked my fuse box and all the fuses were solid. For some reason i suspected the ecu fuse so i pulled it out only to see it was solid. I put the ecu fuse back in and the engine cranked fine just as normal and has done so several times since.
I just my bottom line question is, would a bad connection or blown fuse prevent the engine from cranking?
I replaced the battery with a genuine Honda battery less then 6 months ago. The only other thing that comes to mind is i had my exhaust and mid pipe replace due to rust this week and it occurred to me that an o2 sensor my have lost connection or something along that line but i believe that my car only has an o2 sensor on the exhaust manifold.
I drive a 1993 Honda Accord LX 5speed with 253,000 kms on it.
Any help or advice would be much appreciated. thanks

Two things that come to mind are the ignition switch (most common issue, especially if you have a lot of keys on your keyring) and the clutch pedal button.
Try pushing the clutch pedal ALL THE WAY to the floor and try cranking. If that doesn't work, try joggling your keys around when you try to start the car using the key.

The thought did occur to me about both. I have six keys on my keyring but i realize that doesnt really help diagnose the issue. Would the clutch pedal switch come and go or just fail? I always fully depress the clutch pedal when starting the car.
The reason i am asking about the ecu fuse is that i had tried starting the car many times after taking the keys in and out of the cylinder with no success. Since i pulled the ecu fuse and reinserted it, i have not had a single problem. Would a bad or loose contact on the fuse or potentially blown fuse prevent the engine from cranking while everything else seems to work fine? In my own little diagnosis i would assume the fuse has come loose but i don't want to assume that and end up getting stranded somewhere, espcially with winter finally arriving here in Calgary.
Thanks again
