91 civic dx wont start!
Hello to everyone at honda-tech. Since this is my first post I'll do my introduction here.
I've had several Honda's over the years and have always enjoyed them. Whether its driving them or working on them. I am now on my 5th Honda, which also happens to be the oldest in age that I've owned. I like to work on my own cars. I've done everything from regular oil changes, to tune-ups, timing belt changes, and suspension. I like to think of myself as mechanically inclined. But when it comes to the electrical system, I don't know squat! I probably can't even install a radio! I'm not ashamed of this. What I do know is that I need some help, therefore this post.
Here's the situation I got (and yes, I've searched this forum and the net for answers, with no luck): car has a fairly new battery, new spark plugs, new ignition switch, new starter, and new ignition coil. No CEL, ECU blinks once to let me know its alive. Fuel pump primes. Main relay clicks three times. I know I'm getting fuel because my plugs are drenched in unburnt fuel. So...
I've pretty much narrowed it down to the electrical system, specifically weak spark. I do get spark when I test for it but it is orange in color. I've read that it should be blue or white? Autozone dude says its my ignitor unit. Can he be correct? I've spent quite a bit now so I want to be sure. Could it be something else? Whole distributor maybe? Ignition wires? Any feedback is appreciated.
P.S. radio was stolen (surprise surprise) and the harness was cut and now I have a bunch of wires exposed. Then this whole non-start issue happened about a month after that. Could there be a connection?
Thanks for reading and thanks in advance!
